Midnight Echo 6: The Science Fiction Horror Issue, made the shortlist for the Edited category of the Australian Shadows Awards 2011. The issue was edited by David Kernot, Jason Fishcer and myself. The stories "The Wanderer in Darkness" by Andrew J. McKiernan and "Out Hunting for Teeth" by Joanne Anderton also made the shortlist in Short Stories category.

2012 Ditmar Awards

"Winds of Nzambi" co-authored with David Kernot wins Australian Horror Award

I've just learnt that David Kernot and I have just won the Australian Horror Writers Association's 2011 Short Story Competition, with our tale "Winds of Nzambi", a supernatural horror tale about slave traders in 16th Century Africa. "Dream Machine" shortlisted for Australia's Top Horror Award

Fantastic news today in that I have made the short list for the Australian Shadows Award, the top speculative fiction award for horror fiction in Australia. This is the second time I've made the shortlist, the last time was in 2007 for my short story "Subtle Invasion".


Congrats to everyone who made the list, especially Angela Challis, Marty Young, Amanda Pillar and Pete Kempshall for Macabre and Scenes from the Second Storey, which included my short stories.

About the Author

David Conyers is a science fiction and horror author and editor from Adelaide, South Australia. He has a degree in engineering from the University of Melbourne, and today works in marketing communications. His Harrison Peel series is collected in The Shoggoth Conspiracy with more stories to follow. Anthologies he has edited include Extreme Planets, Cthulhu Unbound 3, Cthulhu Detective, Cthulhu’s Dark Cults and Undead & Unbound. Since 2013 David has been the Arts and General Editor with Albedo One magazine. The Nightmare Dimension is his collection of horror fiction while Nanofabrica, a collection of best science fiction stories will be released by Aeon Press in 2015.
